Is this the busiest week of the year?

Is this the busiest week of the year or what? It's the week before the end of term so it is crammed with xmas plays and activities, plus work has started gearing up to xmas too. In addition there are family events queuing up and still the Christmas shopping to do. Yesterday I got two xmas plays for the price of one. I had big girl daughter's Whoops a Daisy Angel epic in the morning wherein big girl daughter portrayed a snowflake which for some strange reason ended up in Bethlehem. This seemed quite a tenuous link. In the evening, however, we had bonkers daughter in the absolutely traditional version of the Nativity, playing Joseph. She was not very impressed with being cast as Joseph initially, but has grown into the part. However, she refused point blank to do him with a limp or a French accent as I had suggested. You gotta make the most of your time in the spotlight...plus it kind of makes it more interesting for parents who have seen the Nativity performed umpteen times. As it was, she was very excited and demanded flowers after the show. I spotted some growing outside the school, but am aware that there are CCTV cameras positioned everywhere so found a dead flower in the park which she was very impressed with.

Today there's Christmas lunch and a maths and science masterclass for rebel daughter. I have swapped today around with tomorrow because my other job has its Christmas lunch on a Thursday. I have to write absolutely all my movements on a chart because there is too much going on for my brain to compute. Meanwhile, as all this Christmas stuff goes on, anti-environmentalists seem bent on undermining critically important attempts to confront climate change and bankers are warning that making them forfeit some of their bonuses to help the many, many people who have lost their jobs as a result of a banking system that they have profited so richly from will collapse the economy. It seems hard to teach children about the importance of hope and doing the right thing in such a world.
