Maternity Leave?
I was really getting to like being at home to the point where I thought (as we all have) that it would be really lovely to win the lottery and stay at home forever. The extension is all finished and I am nearly finished sorting out the house and putting everything where it should be and throwing everything that we don't need.
But it wasn't to last. My husband, fresh from his building exploits and all fired up, has decided to start his own home improvements business. And guess who is going to be doing the admin, accounts etc. Yes that is right. Little old me!
I love juggling so many things. Its such fun. Now I shall be running an office in my house, working two days a week at my normal job and helping out as secretary on the PTA. I have a baby who seems to sense whenever I have a million things I need to get on with, a teenager who pleads homework whenever she is asked to help with chores and an eight year old who is "too little" to be able to help.
How come babies always seem to know when you are really wanting to get on with things? Like last night for instance. I saw the beautiful weather and thought to myself that I would wait till little one was in bed and go out and start sorting out the back garden. But no, it wasn't going to happen. She went to sleep at about six thirty, only to promptly wake up at seven thirty and turn into super duper lively baby. This went on until ten fifteen by which time, surprisingly it had got really dark.
Does anyone else feel like they are working in ever decreasing circles? I seem to spend loads of time doing stuff but then when I look around at the end of the day it seems like I have done nothing. And soon I shall be having to throw two days of work into the mix as well. Joy of joys!
Still in the words of Delboy Trotter: "this time next year, we will be millionaires!"
