Rude words and school holidays
Poo!
Actually are you allowed to blog with rude words? Mind you, as far as my repetoire of offensive language is concerned 'poo' is laughingly mild. I can be quite good at raising eyebrows at times...
Things not going so well at the mo. And it's all related to the school holidays. I love my children - adore them in fact. And the thought of having a few weeks of just them and me time fills me with excitement. If only I could put my business magically on hold in a little time warp every time the school shut up shop my life would be damn near perfect.
Anyway, I can't - so the holidays over the past week have been ridiculously stressful. On day one I put a film on for them while I worked from home. That film then morphed into Cbeebies and it was after 2 before I gave themn some attention. Does that make me a terrible mother? In my eyes I had 'F' for failure scorched into my forehead.
On day 2 I promised myself I'd forget about work. I did - but my suppliers didn't so when I switched on my phone and laptop at 8pm I nearly had a heart attack at the work ahead.
Days 3 and 4 were a constant mess of wiping snot from noses in between fielding calls from 'serious' people. Just to add to the pantomine I threw in a row with husband over the dog, and decided to throw all my energy into making life difficult by blowing up the car engine.
Some might say I should ask for help in the holidays. Get a nanny, seek out some holiday play centres, sort a reciprical arrangement with friends. But I just CAN'T. I promised myself that, by running a business, I would have the freedom to be around for my children at all important times. And if I have to suffer a bit of stress, so what. There are worse things in life I guess.
I'm hoping the holidays get easier the older they get. Please don't disillusion me...
