Night "off"

We had an almost child-free evening on Saturday. When I say almost, I mean that we divested ourselves of bonkers, big girl and rebel daughters. The first two went to my mum's for the night with big girl daughter assuring me she would be alright because "there are two adults there, mummy". But one of them isn't mummy, I wanted to say. Surely you will miss me. I rang later in the evening and she was still not missing me. In fact, she was being cuddled up by her gran and asking to play Sorry. Her gran was saying in a very tired voice that perhaps they could play Sorry in the morning.
Bonkers daughter didn't miss her parents either - her only concern was for the baby. Indeed, when she saw me at school on Friday without the baby [he was at home with his dad], her first words were [accusingly] "what have you done with my baby?". She doesn't trust me to be in sole charge. I think she thinks I am going to leave him somewhere and forget about him, which is a distinct possibility as I have to keep reminding myself how many children I have so I don't mislay one by mistake.
Rebel daughter, who fears she is entering an early puberty [I have primed her with an array of books and information just in case], was at a sleepover. So we headed home with just the baby, thinking perhaps, perchance, we may be able to sleep in [no bonkers daughter waking up at 5am and no big girl daughter coming in at 6.30]. Unfortunately, the baby has suddenly decided to change his routine and stay up most of the evening, resulting in dinner being eaten with one hand [the other having to rock him]. He does then sleep four hours in a row, but on Saturday then woke up every hour thereafter due to wind. Bonkers and big girl daughters arrived home around 11.30am and bonkers daughter inevitably headed straight for the baby.
