Home office musings

So Christmas is over. It was a failry quiet one, and as I was working between Christmas and New Year it did not seem like much of a break, but was fun all the same. The kids had a brilliant time, Santa was very generous I thought. And I did have a relaxing Christmas Day as I didn't have to do any cooking and just sat around for most of it being fed. For New Year I was determined to go out, as I had not seen much of my friends over the festive period (my New Year Resolutions include seeing more of my friends, alongside introducing a proper skin care routine which is probably a bit late at 35). We let the baby sleep in the afternoon for ages, until 6.30pm, and then let both the kids stay up till 11pm, but they couldn't quite make it for the last hour. We went over to some friends, and it was very nice indeed - fed again this time with rice, peas and jerk chicken. Plus they live down our street which is a bonus when walking in minus conditions.

Over Christmas one task I had set myself, as it was going to be quiet, involved printing and working through a 90 page document. Of course as soon as I had thought this my printer decided it would not feed paper properly and announced a fatal printer jam. I tried and tried for days to correct it, but to no avail. And with printers, the thing is that it is more expensive to fix than buy a new one. So I bought a new one. Actually I am secretly pleased - it matches my computer. I like that kind of stuff. Plus it is supposed to be great at printing lab-quality photos (something the other one was rubbish at). And the mega-computer store which I got it from had frozen the VAT along with the rest of town, so I didn't have to feel guilty about not buying it before the 1st January.

So I am up and running again with all my IT in my home office. I am just looking for some wood to touch in the hope that nothing else technological goes wrong in the next few months. And life is totally back to normal again.. in some ways I like it that way.  Of course this morning (the first back at school) my alarm did not go off properly so I was up half an hour late and rushing to get the baby to grandma's and the older one to school.
