Dads still the main breadwinners

Dads are still the main breadwinners in the majority of households, according to a Working Mums poll, but in almost a quarter of families the earnings are either evenly split or mums are bringing in the most cash.
The poll of 555 parents found that 57% of respondents said men were the main breadwinners, while 9% said earnings were evenly split. Fourteen per cent said dads were not the main breadwinners and 16% said they were single parents.

Children encouraged to give their views
Children are being encouraged to make their voices heard as part of children’s charity 4Children’s Shout Out 4Children Week from 22 to 26 June.

The week includes the launch of the results of 4Children's annual My Shout Out! survey.
Children and young people aged 4-14 across England have taken part, giving their views on their feelings and attitudes towards a range of issues, including leisure activities and family relationships.
It also includes a ceremony to celebrate children’s workers, including youthworkers and childminders. It is sponsored by the Department of Children Schools and Families and the Children's Workforce Development Council.
Anne Longfield OBE, 4Children's Chief Executive, said: "Children and young people are the most creative, articulate and energetic members of society so it is disappointing that so many feel they have little influence in the world around them. Shout Out 4Children Week aims to put the record straight, delivering children's views directly to the country's top decision makers. Children want to see their concerns reflected in the world around them - Shout Out 4Children Week plays a key role in making that happen."
