Law Society promotes flexible working via webinars
The Law Society is taking action to promote flexible working as part of National Work-Life Week.
The Society is inviting solicitors and human resources managers to attend webinars on flexible working as part of the Week, which runs from Monday 24 September to Friday 28 September.
It has developed a Flexible Working Protocol, setting out the business case for flexible working for legal practices as well as providing best practice guidance, and is partnering with Working Families to deliver the webinars to help lawyers and their managers make flexible working work for them.
The webinar for solicitors, which will take place on Friday 28 September and is free to attend, will guide legal professionals on how to strike a better balance between work and private life.
The one-hour webinar will provide practical guidance on how to effectively manage priorities and ambitions. Solicitors will also be given tools and techniques to improve their impact within the workplace when working from home or shorter hours.
The session for HR and people managers, which will take place on Monday 24 September and is free for Law Society Equality and Diversity Section members, will explain how organisational flexibility has become strategically important for firms and how it can drive performance even in already high-performing teams.
Law Society President Lucy Scott-Moncrieff said: “Flexible working isn’t something that law firms or lawyers should be scared of. It doesn’t mean that you have to be constantly checking your Blackberry after office hours or that your employees will be slacking off.
“In challenging times, flexible working can bring great benefits to firms, whilst also helping their employees strike a better work-life balance.”
