Fertile forties warning
Women in their forties are being warned to keep up with contraception if they don’t want an unplanned pregnancy.
The advice from The Family Planning Association comes as figures reveal that women between 40 and 44 have the same abortion rates as those aged under 16.
The FPA says that women often believe they won’t get pregnant after they hit 40 due to the amount of focus on infertility in this age group, but it warns that pregnancy can occur at any time up until the menopause.
