Employers see benefits of offering childcare vouchers
Some 70% of employers offer childcare vouchers and 81% provide sick pay above the statutory entitlement, according to research published by financial protection insurer Unum and Personnel Today.
The survey of over 220 HR professionals found two thirds of organisations continue to pay sick employees for up to one year, even when statutory requirements are for them to receive £81.60 a week statutory sick pay for the first six months followed by employment and support allowance of at least £4,901 a year. Some 40% supplement the latter and 12% support their staff for longer than a year.
Eighty-eight per cent rated providing sick pay above statutory entitlement as fairly or very important. Many employers also continue to provide death in service benefit or life insurance and private medical insurance. Over half offer bonus schemes.
Half those questioned review their benefits package every year and 20% do so more regularly.
