Sandra had worked as a lecture and illustrator before doing her master’s when she attended a free online training programme run by M&C Saatchi last year.

Now a junior creative art director at the advertising firm, the free Open House programme changed her life by showing her she had essential transferable skills and encouraging her to take the plunge.

This month M&C Saatchi is opening applications for its 2022 Open House, a seven-week online training programme. The aim is to help those who are looking to get into the advertising industry or have taken a career break.

The Open House initiative will run from 7th September and each week there will be key speakers who will share their specialist knowledge and experience via online sessions. At the end of the programme certificates will be issued along with the opportunity to work on a live brief with the prospect of being shortlisted for a future role at M&C Saatchi. The assessment day will take place on 30th November for those able to work in the UK. Applications will open on 21st October with shortlisted candidates being considered for any open roles and for entry level roles and internships in 2023.

The seven weekly sessions cover creativity, innovation strategy, customer experience, bringing ideas to life, passion marketing, how to have meaningful conversations through editorial and social to influence the power of brands and how to get a job in advertising.

The first session, creativity changes everything, will be led by Ben Golik, chief creative officer, will showcase work from across the company. It will include a panel of previous Open House joiners about their experience in the industry.

Sandra says: “Any doubt I had about working as a creative was demolished by Ben Golik and his talk about storytelling and creativity.”
