bfa holds women-only business event

Working at home, technology, small business, women, franchising

The British Franchise Association are holding a ‘women only’ business event this Thursday.

The event, which is open to all, will be held at Savill Court, Surrey and will cover general business-related topics, not just franchise specific topics.

The bfa says women from all business backgrounds, those who own, run or work in a franchise and those who want to know more about franchising, can attend the full-day event.

Topics covered on the day will include how to ensure traffic flows on your website, how to empower your franchise team, how to decode body language and how to deal with assertive personalities.

The keynote speaker will be ex RAF fast jet pilot Mandy Hickson talking not only about her experiences of being a pilot but about the leadership, teamwork and communication required to define and realise specific goals in high-pressure situations. Other speakers include Rachel Ray, founder of the £5m turnover domestic cleaning franchise, Bright & Beautiful.

Pip Wilkins, chief executive of the bfa says: “Government statistics tell us that 15.5% of all businesses are owned or run by women. In franchising that figure is doubled to 30%, a figure we at the BFA are very proud of. We want to bring all these brilliant women together, give them relevant, up to date information that they will find useful in the practical, day to day life of running their businesses and also give them the chance to meet and talk to each other, to make new contacts and to share information. For any woman who has ever thought ‘I wonder what franchising is?’ this event will be a one-stop-shop to hear, meet and talk to the best of the best. We hope many more women, who have maybe thought ‘one day I’ll franchise my hairdressers/dog walking business/cleaning business/accountancy, will come along and meet us and find out a bit more about this little-known, sector where women and their businesses thrive.”

*For more information about the event, to see the full agenda and purchase your ticket please visit the website: www.thebfa.org/wif. Tickets cost £99+ VAT each.
