Here at workingmums.co.uk, we’re monitoring the impact of the coronavirus pandemic closely.
Over the last few days in particular, we have had an exceptionally high volume of working parents visit workingmums.co.uk to access the information and advice we are sharing through our articles. We will continue to update this and ensure that parents have all the information they need.
The same applies to employers looking for advice and support as they find themselves in the unprecedented situation of moving entire teams to home-based, and often flexible, working and trying to fill roles at speed to cope with demand or to cover sick leave. With schools closing there is now a further dynamic for employees and employers to manage.
Alongside recruitment services, providing advice and support and sharing best practice has always been an integral part of what we do and, to that end, we now have a dedicated coronavirus section on the workingmums.co.uk website for jobseekers and employers, accessible from the homepage.
We will continue to post articles with advice and support for employers and parents as the situation evolves, and share practical advice and tips, but we also want to know and share what is working for you in your organisations.
So please do tell us what you are doing – however big or small – and any tips you may have, from advice for line managers new to managing virtual teams, to maintaining motivation and focus, helping teams to stay connected to avoid people feeling isolated and practical tips around helpful technology – and everything in between. We will share this so that everyone is able to learn from one another in what, for many, will be uncharted territory.
If you are a charitable organisation and need extra volunteers at this time, we are offering free job postings for volunteering roles. Please contact us for more information.
Remote working is something we have been practising in our business since the very beginning – over 13 years ago – so, albeit within the context of a very fast-changing situation, it is business-as -usual for us. As a result we are confident of being able to provide the same high levels of customer service and team accessibility you are used to.
We know that the situation will continue to evolve, so we too will continue to monitor what is happening and provide regular updates to our staff and customers.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any further questions.
We hope you all stay safe during these unprecedented times.

Hi, I have received a letter from the nhs indicating that if I was to get covid 19 I would be at server risk and would need to go to hospital.
My husband is a gas engineer and works for a company, we are both worried as he is working in different people’s homes everyday!
Can he not stay at home for the 12 weeks to shield me as I am a high risk, and qould he be entitled to the 80% from the government?

Hi, The government advice is that those living with people who are being shielded should use social distancing rather than self isolate – see https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19/guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19
