We are looking for franchisors that help women combine business success with raising a family. The aim of the awards is to celebrate and reward good practice and share it with others.  

The awards are free to enter. The aim is to celebrate and reward good practice and share it with others. A representative of each short-listed firm will be invited to the Awards presentation and networking event in November. Additional tickets can be purchased, but space is limited.

Award Categories

To be eligible for the Supportive Franchisor Award, franchisors should demonstrate that they are fully committed to supporting franchisees at the start of their journey and throughout.

Franchisors should be able to demonstrate:

  • The process in place to support franchisees from inception and throughout their journey
  • Why they have chosen this particular process
  • What training is offered to the franchisee
  • How advice and support is communicated to franchisees (i.e. regular phone calls, communications, updates, etc) on an ongoing basis
  • How support packages help the franchisee to make a success of their business
  • Evidence that support provided has a positive impact on the franchisee. This may include case studies, feedback etc.
  • Evidence that the franchise is both profitable and sustainable.

Application Process

In order to be considered, all interested franchisors are required to complete an application covering key areas as outlined in the guidance above.

It is vital that franchisors include evidence that is specific and relevant to the Supportive Franchisor Award category so that the judges can see why they should be considered for this Award. Where possible, franchisors should strengthen their application by including case studies which are relevant to the category applied for as well as evidence that processes/initiatives are being monitored and developed.

Entries should be no longer than the word limit stated, but supporting evidence can be of any length. Entries must be submitted online. If you have an attachment you would like to send for supporting evidence please email it to awards@workingmums.co.uk.

The deadline for entries is 1st March 2019.

Judging Process

There will be an initial screening by Workingmums.co.uk and a shortlist compiled. Shortlisted entrants will then be judged by a panel of experts. The application will be judged purely on the application form and evidence supplied – hence the need for a strong, relevant application.

Winners will be announced at the Top Franchise Award’s online ceremony in May 2019.

Entrants for each category who wish to be considered for the Overall Top Franchise Award are advised to include an executive summary of their work in these areas if they have not already covered them in their submission. This, however, is optional and your submission (without a summary) will still be considered.

 

To be eligible for the Family Friendly Franchise Award, franchisors should be able to demonstrate a real commitment to ensuring their business model and procedures help parents balance a successful business with raising a family. They must show that the franchise is profitable and sustainable.

Entrants should demonstrate:

  • A real commitment to work life balance practices which specifically help working parents, such as flexible working, training and support and advice.
  • Support on how to balance a business with other commitments.
  • They should back their application up with case studies and data, including examples of income.

The Franchise Award for Innovation publicly recognises franchises that have innovative policies and practices that help franchisees grow and improve their business.

Franchisors should be able to demonstrate:

  • Policies and practices that have helped franchisees grow and develop.
  • Evidence that innovation, looking for better ways of working, is continual.
  • Information on what prompted the policies, for instance, franchisee surveys or business and commercial reasons, and any changes in practice.
  • How the policies were implemented.
  • Take-up and evaluation of the policies.

Please provide evidence of any impact changes have made, such as profit increases, increase in franchisee satisfaction and improved brand reputation.

They need to outline:

  • The business case for their franchise
  • How they tried and tested the model
  • Strategy for future growth
  • The support package for franchisees
  • Why new franchisees would be attracted to their franchise opportunity
  • Evidence that the franchise is both profitable and sustainable

Please include evidence to support the above and include details of the franchisee package.

This award is for Franchises established over the last 2 years.

The winners of each category will be put forward for the Overall Top Franchise Award, which is for franchisors who can demonstrate a real commitment to not only providing a successful flexible business model, but to also giving franchisees the advice and support they need to succeed.
