After having her first child, Leigh Duke decided that her existing career in the world of banking was not going to be the right choice for family life. She initially attended Jo Jingles as a customer and enjoyed the classes with her baby so much that she decided to invest in her own franchise.
I like a challenge and having been to many Jo Jingles classes as a parent, I know how much fun learning through music is.
Leigh swiftly discovered the specially designed music programmes and strong Jo Jingles Support Network made it straightforward to get the business up and running. She loves seeing the progression of the babies to pre-schoolers and says:
I love the enthusiasm and seeing the little ones getting so much enjoyment out of it – as well as that they are learning new skills.
Having purchased her initial Jo Jingles territory of East Lothian back in 2007 with an investment of £6600, Leigh’s first-year turnover was in excess of £25,000. This original area has now more than doubled and Leigh has not only maintained stability of her classes but also expanded her business in 2015 with the acquisition of two additional areas, East Edinburgh and Central Edinburgh.
With a team of eight class teachers and most recently the appointment of a co-partner the business growth has continued and accelerated in the region. With additional business in nurseries and baby groups on a regular basis Leigh is on track for an impressive six-figure plus annual turnover in 2018!
Leigh’s outstanding management skills, growth and development of the business secured her the Jo Jingles Franchisee of the Year Award in 2016 and she has added to this with a number of other business accolades.
All this while being mum to two young, very active daughters of her own and being very much a reputable member of her local community.
