Career transitions are becoming increasingly common, particularly among professional women seeking new opportunities after a career break or a change in direction. A recent survey conducted by the Open Study College found that one in three women (33%) changed careers
after becoming mothers.
This survey, which was part of a campaign aimed at encouraging mothers to follow their dream careers, gathered responses from over 2,000 working parents in the UK with children aged 2 to 17. Among those surveyed, 49% (972 respondents) were women.
For many women, the prospect of pivoting into a career in early years and shaping young minds offers an opportunity to harness transferable skills, experience and knowledge that they already have.
Perhaps you know just how to communicate with a tired toddler or encourage a shy little one to make new friends. Nursery employers are looking for people just like you.
Transitioning into any new career can be daunting. How do you get a foot in a new sector? Do you have the skills and experience required?
This is where Realise can support you in finding your dream career – not just a job.
Our government-funded Skills Bootcamp in Early Years offers a guaranteed job interview for a fulfilling career with a local nursery or early years setting – in as little as 6 weeks.
Skills Bootcamps are intensive training programmes designed to equip individuals aged 19+ with in-demand skills for employment in early years education. Skills Bootcamps are designed to boost the early years sector with fresh energy and passionate individuals, who are seeking a career change.
Our online and face-to-face Skills Bootcamps provide flexible training lasting up to 12 weeks, making them ideal for those looking to upskill or reskill without the financial burden often associated with further education.
For women considering a return to work or a career change, Skills Bootcamps offer several unique advantages:
1. Flexibility and accessibility: Our Skills Bootcamp in Early Years is designed with flexibility in mind, allowing you to balance re-skilling with other personal responsibilities, such as childcare. Choose from morning, afternoon or evening study sessions on weekdays or weekends.
2. Accelerated learning pathways: Unlike traditional education routes that can take months to complete, Skills Bootcamps offer a condensed learning timeline. In up to 12 weeks, you can get the essential skills needed to kickstart a new career in early years education. If you go on to complete a Level 3 Apprenticeship once in employment, you’ll save up to 6 months of learning time!
3. It’s FREE: With government funding covering the cost of the Skills Bootcamp, there is no financial barrier when you’re looking to transition your career into early years. For many women, especially those who have taken a career break and may not have a steady income, this makes the possibility of transitioning into a new sector more accessible. Realise will even cover the cost of your enhanced DBS check and Paediatric First Aid certificate.
For professional women considering a transition, a career in early years education offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully while enjoying a fulfilling and dynamic work environment.
1. There is a high demand for early years professionals: This demand presents a stable and rewarding career path with opportunities for growth and specialisation, such as becoming a Nursery Manager, Room Leader, Early Years Consultant, or Special Education Needs Coordinator. If you have the passion, you’re halfway there!
2. Find local employment: Once you have completed the Skills Bootcamp, Realise will support you in securing a guaranteed job interview with a local early years employer. We understand the social value of staying local and giving back to your community. Let us help you achieve this!
3. Personal and professional fulfilment: Working with young children and shaping little minds can be incredibly rewarding, offering a unique blend of personal satisfaction and professional achievement.
For many professional women, Skills Bootcamps represent more than just a free training opportunity; they symbolise a fresh start!
Whether returning to the workforce after raising a family or seeking a change from a previous career, our Skills Bootcamp in Early Years offers a clear pathway into a rewarding and impactful profession.
The demand for early years educators continues to grow with expanded childcare funding being rolled out until 2025. The availability of government-funded training programmes like Skills Bootcamps will play a crucial role in bridging the skills gap and empowering more women to embark on their dream careers.
In just 12 weeks, you can transform your career trajectory and open up a world of possibilities in shaping the minds and futures of the next generation.
