Publisher Hachette announces enhanced Shared Parental Leave and day one flexibility.
Publisher Hachette UK has announced that it is equalising its offer to parents on maternity leave and those on Shared Parental Leave.
The company will now offer parents 20 weeks of Shared Parental Leave on full pay.
The change means both parents will be able to take 20 weeks of fully-paid leave at any point in the 37-week eligibility period.
The policy derives from Hachette’s Gender Balance Network and is linked to the company’s efforts to narrow the gender pay gap.
Shared parental leave can be taken all in one go or in blocks and parents can choose to be off work together or stagger the leave and pay.
The company has also announced a number of other changes including making all jobs available to part-time working, job sharing, flexible hours and potentially a blend of office and home working.
Employees will also be able to request flexible working from day one in their job at Hachette. It follows a trial in January.
