How to lay out your cv

The CV Guru gives advice on how to format your CV.

Curriculum Vitae (CV) on laptop

Emma Alkirwi, aka the CV Guru, talks in this video about the key things to remember when you are laying out your CV.

She says it should be topped with your name, address and contact details, followed by a professional summary, then a section on key skills and expertise, which should include skills related to the position you are applying to, if possible mirroring the language of the job advert.

A career summary follows where you can list the main achievements in your various positions. Next comes education and then additional information, including language skills, software used, whether you have a driving licence, etc, and any relevant interests.
