Job Details

Lendlease are looking to appoint a Head of External Affairs who will be required to plan and manage all external affairs focusing on the major Euston redevelopment project. You will be required to advise on strategic government relations plans and policies across the Region, overseeing the implementation of government relations strategies whilst ensuring the achievement of company objectives in compliance with applicable regulatory standards and embedding the strategic plan. The position will be a part of the Europe corporate affairs and marketing leadership team, and work closely with that team on shaping and enhancing the overarching corporate reputation strategy for the Lendlease group across Europe. A key opportunity for this role will be to exert influence at senior levels of the company and to further build upon the current foundations to deliver long term, sustainable improvement in Lendlease's brand in the urban regeneration space.


This role involves representing Lendlease at relevant media, business and industry functions, as well as acting as one of the company's spokespeople; collaborating with the business to align the external, digital and social communications strategy; facilitating communications with key media representatives; keeping abreast of potential internal and external issues, risks and opportunities.


Accountabilities:

  • Provide specialised advice and technical input which may include advice on strategies, systems, technologies and materials, acting as a globally acknowledged expert and authority on building successful relationships on regulatory matters, recommending possible solutions to improve effectiveness and contributing to the development of long term policies, objectives and plans.
  • Develop research methods and lead and direct research to gather, identify, interpret and analyse information on approaches and risks, across sectors, clients, global and emerging trends and performance and capabilities of competitors, providing insights, economic, industry and market outlook and intelligence to contribute to the company's strategies and capitalise on the Group's growth opportunities.
  • Direct and review analysis, which may include tools, analytics, information sources, approaches, methodologies and outputs to identify areas of improvement and recommend enhancements, integrating and standardising research and the preparation of reports to inform decision making.
  • Monitor, review and evaluate activities, systems and tools, to create new and innovative solutions and apply upgrades to optimise and maximise implementation and ensure compliance with organisational and legislative requirements and objectives.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to staff to build the skills sets required, ensuring that staff are adequately resourced to perform;



Knowledge, skills and experience required:

 

  • Substantial experience in the leadership of the Corporate/External Affairs, stakeholder management and Marketing, in a major listed public company or in a large, complex business or organisation
  • Natural thought leader with knowledge of new technologies, channels and the integration of communications and marketing programs to engage audiences including employees, customers and other key stakeholders
  • Proven success as a trusted advisor to CEOs and senior leadership
  • Proven spokesperson, and manager of issues and crises situations
  • Demonstrated influencing skills in complex, international businesses or organisations including working across multiple geographies and cultures
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications combined with extensive experience across multiple roles, regions and/or sectors.
  • Externally well regarded as a subject matter expert, contributing to overall industry trends.
  • Experience in an government relations and/or media relations role, and/or expert knowledge and in-depth understanding of proactive and reactive compliance management, particularly in dealing with business issues.
  • Problem solving, commercial acumen, technical and analytical skills with the ability to work through complex issues.
  • Excellent established relationships with key external parties
