Barratt London is currently looking to employ a Layout Designer / Architectural Technician to strengthen and complement their existing team.

 Responsibilities:

  • Undertake evaluations of site, planning and engineering constraints, to ensure that developments are economically viable.
  • Produce CAD residential layout drawings and other documentation (including Design and Access Statements) in support of Planning Submissions.
  • Liaise with external consultants and internal departments to produce practical, cost-effective design solutions.
  • Liaise with Local Planning Authorities and other statutory bodies to achieve satisfactory Planning Permissions and discharge of planning conditions.
  • Ability to produce hand-drawn sketch feasibility drawings would be an advantage.
  • Ensure that Technical Department procedures are adhered to and that layouts for land appraisals, planning submissions and supporting information are delivered to agreed programmes.
  • Be able to discharge obligations under the CDM regulations.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • A motivated and adaptable individual with good communication skills who has the drive and tenacity to achieve the goals of the business.
  • A keen eye for detail and an ability to prioritise tasks to meet changing business needs.
  • Experience of working for a major house builder in a similar role or Architectural practice with extensive house building experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the major functions within Technical Services and how they impact on site acquisition and development.
  • Qualified in a Construction-related discipline to minimum HNC Level or NVQ Level 5.
  • Excellent level of AutoCAD skills.
  • Competent with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Knowledge of Sketch-up and/or other 3D software desirable but not essential.
