The Role

Audit Executive Internal Audit Information Technology & Projects will report to the Manager Internal Audit IT & Projects who is based in London, and will be responsible for leading and undertaking audit assignments across Willis Towers Watson group to evaluate the effectiveness of risk management and the design and operation of controls within IT and Projects. This includes leading and/or assisting in corporate investigations, integrated audits and special projects. While primarily based in one audit office, the Audit Manager IT & Projects will be required to have flexibility to travel nationally (UK) and internationally when the assignment requires.

The key duties and responsibilities of the Audit Executive IT & Projects are:

  • Leading Internal Audits and project work to evaluate key IT and project risks and the adequacy of controls within the Willis Towers Watson group, - including: 
    • Development of an audit approach and testing strategy for assigned audits to ensure all key business risks and controls are evaluated, 
    • Coordination and participation in completing audit test procedures, 
    • Communicating regularly audit findings/exceptions to line management, 
    • Responsibility for audit completion and delivery of projects to time and budget. 
  • Ability to participate in peer group led audits as a team member
  • Having gravitas and maturity to effectively communicate with senior management throughout the audit process and influence the outcome of the review. It includes discussing process and control deficiencies, recommending corrective actions and other suggestions for improvements in operational controls to mitigate risk and/or reductions in costs
  • Preparing the draft audit report for review by line management, ensuring audit comments are clear, insightful, concise and focused on the root cause of the issue and intended outcome, and presented in GIA report style and context. 
  • As required, providing assistance to external auditors during their interim and annual reviews of the company
  • Working as a global resource, participating in audit assignments as required in any location
  • As required, provide input into departmental initiatives e.g. templates, audit manual and methodologies
  • Participate in the annual audit risk assessment process and universe review of IT and Projects within Willis Towers Watson group
  • Maintain and enhance the stakeholder relationships with key global IT management and Group Internal Audit
  • Ensure communications to senior management are transparent, clear and appropriate and supporting line management on additional management tasks.

The Requirements

  • A general good understanding of overall IT infrastructure, including proficiency in some elements such as Operating systems, Database management, Networks, Resiliency, Cyber security etc
  • Overall good understanding of the end to end audit process, including risk based practices and approach
  • Experience in a similar role with a leading audit function
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and influence senior management within the group 
  • Good interpersonal skills and a proven team player
  • Self-motivated, strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong delivery focus, ability to perform all required functions on a timely basis and with accuracy. 

Preferred Skills:

  • A general knowledge and experience in Willis Towers Watson operations (e.g. insurance brokerage, reinsurance, consulting, etc.) or comparable company & industry experience
  • Fluency in one or more foreign language.

Professional Education:

  • Relevant Degree level education (equivalent 2.1 level or equivalent) 
  • Relevant professional certifications such as CISA, CISSP, ITIL, CISM, Prince 2, CCNA, Microsoft certifications etc.
