At Surrey Outdoor Learning (SOLD) we are looking for a number of committed seasonal staff required from March - October 2019.

You will earn £11.11 per hour (inclusive of leave allowance) and have the opportunity to work substantial hours across the season. The exact number of hours to be worked each week will be mutually agreed in advance with your manager. We also require staff that are available for ad hoc sessions throughout the year.

We require staff at:

  • Thames Young Mariners (TYM) OEC, Ham, Richmond. TW10 7RX.
  • High Ashurst, near Dorking, Surrey. RH5 6DQ.
  • Henley Fort OEC in Guildford. GU2 4RH.

You may be required to work across the 3 centres, there is a possibility of staff accommodation available at Thames Young Mariners for substantial hour workers. Please ask for more details about this option.

We are looking for Outdoor Education Workers  who are experienced in delivering high quality outdoor learning experiences, that maintain the high standards and positive impact we expect in SOLD. You will be a skilled facilitator, able to adapt your style to work with a variety of different clients from primary school pupils through to youth groups and graduate students. You will have a good understanding of how outdoor learning can benefit all aspects of education and personal development.

You should have previous centre experience and hold relevant National Governing Body qualifications. A current first aid qualification is essential for this role.

A minimum of one qualification from the list below is required:

Thames Young Mariners (some staff accommodation available)

  • BC Paddlesports Instructor (or equivalent qualification)
  • RYA Assistant Instructor or above

High Ashurst and Henley Fort (No staff accommodation)

  • Archery GB Instructor Award
  • A walking qualification such as Sports Leader Lowland Expedition Leader/MT Lowland Leader/MT Mountain Leader
  • MIAS level 2/ British Cycling Mountain Bike Leadership Level 2 Instructor
  • Forest Schools Leader L3
  • SPA / CWA / ERCA Ropes Course instructor
  • BC Paddlesports Instructor / Paddlesports Leader (Henley Fort only)

D1/PCV minibus licence / Trailer Licence would also be useful.
