Role purpose:

The Chartered Building Services Engineer will be responsible for completing planned work programmes to schedule, ensure achievement of day-to-day maintenance expenditure to pre-set targets, and manage service contracts to an acceptable level in accordance with contract documentation.

Accountabilities:

1)    Carry out property inspection functions and the identification of day-to-day and planned repairs to mechanical and electrical installations.

2)    Manage service contracts for boiler, gas fire installations etc., plus repairs arising from statutory testing.

3)    Draft day work orders, prepare estimates, specifications, supervise contractors and check and approve accounts. Obtain statutory approvals where needed.

4)    Exercise control on day-to-day expenditure.

5)    Consult with relevant parties on identified needs and the implementation of repair and improvement projects.

6)    Provide advice to relevant parties when required and actively promote the use of the Group on a fee paying basis where appropriate.

7)    Responsible for identifying new business opportunities.

8)    Fee earning at 90%, and contribute to the achievement of business plan objectives and targets.   

9)    This role requires frequent travel to other offices and sites as required

10) Carry out duties appropriate to the grade and Chartered nature of the post.

11) Promote continuous improvement and deliver demonstrable high quality products and services which embrace quality standards.

12) Demonstrate personal commitment to the Norse Way CSR strategy.

Qualifications:

1)    Professional Chartered membership of the Chartered Institute of Building Service Engineers – Essential

2)    HNC/HND or equivalent in a Building Services related discipline – Essential

3)    Holds a current site card or is prepared to immediately attain – Essential

4)    Bachelor’s Degree in a Building Services related discipline – Desirable

Skills and knowledge:

1)    Extensive experience in a similar or related role – Essential

2)    Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite –Essential

3)    Relevant experience in preparation and management of the engineering maintenance of a variety of types of buildings – Essential

4)    Familiar with relevant construction, health and safety legislation and risks and hazards associated with asbestos – Essential
