Can you help us lead change on every front?

The sheer pace and scale of change taking place across our business means there couldn't be a more exciting time to join Group Transformation and help build the best bank for our clients. Can you:-

* Lead, direct and control the delivery of benefits for our clients & colleagues?
* Shape and lead major change initiatives which implement business strategies successfully?
* Engage effectively with a range of partners across the business, understanding their needs & strategy?
* Build, lead, motivate and develop a high performing team?
* Embrace & champion new ways of working?

If so, then you'll never be short of a new challenge.

The Lab Product Owner (Lab PO) is a passionate, inspiring and customer-obsessed leader who works collaboratively as a peer of the Lab Engineering Lead. The Lab PO will be accountable for the end to end (E2E) delivery of the product and their main goal is to realise value for customers and partners. You'll do this by building empowered Teams that are motivated to take on business problems and deliver customer value with excellence in execution. You'll derive energy from creating an environment in which people bring out the best in themselves and in which teams have the courage and are enabled to take responsibility for their own purpose. You'll stimulate innovation by continuously initiating new initiatives for your Lab, encouraging Teams to test and learn by producing easy to use prototypes and MVPs that will create awesome user experiences across organisational products. As well as the Product, you should understand engineering and be willing to understand the 'How' in order to prioritise the 'Why'.

As Lab PO your main accountability will be to maximise value for customers and partners by ensuring that the Lab and Teams are always working on the right set of Business Problems ("building the right things"). You'll achieve this by credibly collaborating with business partners to ensure alignment of priorities, and co-ordinate with other leads to ensure dependencies are prioritised and managed accordingly, so that we can deliver quicker, better and faster for the customer, creating the best possible E2E customer journey.

The Lab PO is a culture advocate and should display the following qualities:

* Inspiring and show energy and real passion for building outstanding customer experiences
* Think 'big' but value incremental improvements
* Focus on collaboration, put aside ego in order to allow others to succeed
* Influence without authority, trust and empower teams and give responsibility to them, using coaching techniques to provide constructive challenge
* Be data and customer driven and bring evidence-based decision-making to explain 'why'
* Bring the customer on the journey by building ever tightening feedback loops between the customer and Lab Teams. Work with the Lab Engineering Lead to implement Engineering efficiencies
* Work with engineering teams to build a culture of move fast, learn faster without compromising quality
* Be able to say "No" to requirements that bring no value to the customer, but also to explain why in terms that partners understand
* Be intellectually curious and T-shaped in their outlook and how they engage with teams
* Learning as a way of being - inspire learning culture and test & learn mentality in colleagues' day to day work
* Be self-aware of strengths/weaknesses - have a continuous desire to learn, gain skills, and self-develop
* Be a strategic thinker - understand what will drive Value

Skills/Experience

* Experience working with technical and cross-functional teams to manage the output
* Proven experience in strategic and large transformations to deliver impact and drive value
* Significant experience with agile development methods & tooling e.g. Scrum, Kanban, Jira & Confluence, and experience of leading & working as part of an agile team
* Strong business and commercial acumen - has a drive to deliver better, faster and cheaper
* Proven experience of financial planning and cost control - a track record of delivering within budget and using resources effectively
* Expert knowledge of the Product and/or Business Area aligned to the Lab.
* Looks to external market trends to bring industry-leading insight to the organisation
* Strong influencing skills to achieve alignment up, down and across the organisation - be able to explain "why" to various partners and constituents - why you are prioritising one feature or theme over another in a release

In return, as a multi-brand, multi-channel business, we've the scale and breadth to provide you with a diverse range of personal development and a career that's enriching and full of opportunity. We're committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the customers and communities we serve, and to building an inclusive environment where all our colleagues can be themselves and succeed on merit. We support the principles of agile working and are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We're an equal opportunity employer and deeply value diversity within our organisation.

Please note this role can be based in Bristol or Cardiff.

Company

We’re creating an organisation that attracts, retains and develops the best talent in the industry, and one that openly embraces diversity too. But more than that – we want to be a great place to work. We invest in our people, offering the best training and coaching, and by encouraging them to contribute to our leading corporate and social responsibility practices. We offer flexible working hours and days, under our Work Options scheme. This means that you can have a challenging and rewarding career, and still have an ideal work/life balance.

Flexible working is at the heart of our strategy. We’re re-imagining where, when, and how our people work, with new approaches designed to meet the ever-changing needs of customers and colleagues. These include increasing our use of remote-working tools and technology, as well as placing less reliance on a 9-to-5 mindset. For many of our office-based colleagues, we work in hybrid ways which involves spending at least two days per week or 40% of their time at one of our office sites.
