Job Details

You might not know that Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) is the UK's leading digital bank and its biggest mobile bank - with over 13 million active online customers.
And with over 30m customers we're looking to harness the data we hold to ensure we become the best Bank for customers through our products and services.
We're now embarking on a three year, £3bn, transformation programme - putting unprecedented levels of investment into our platforms, people and data capabilities to build the bank of the future.

Could you have a key role to play in it?

Here's where you'll make a difference:
In the newly-created role of Simplify and Modernise Engineering Lead, you'll be part of the Insurance & Wealth Transformation senior leadership team within the Group Transformation division. You'll be a 'servant-leader' who steers a significant portfolio of IT modernisation and improvement activity, using excellent collaboration and influencing skills.
The Group's Insurance & Wealth division is underpinned by a number of legacy platforms. Managing a significant annual portfolio of change activity, you'll be at the centre of some of the most strategically-important and largest-scale technological transformation activity in the bank's history.

Your key accountabilities will include;
* Continuously improve platforms, architecture and engineering practices to enable faster-paced value delivery across our General Insurance, Protection, Retirement and Investment businesses.
* Increase the resilience and currency of our platforms to enhance the reliability and scalability of our day-to-day operations.
* Act as the Insurance & Wealth Division's expert representative in steering and shaping a number of major Group-wide engineering programmes, including Cloudification, cyber resilience and workplace digitisation.
* Effectively manage Insurance & Wealth's IT risk profile and a number of Critical Business Processes.
* Regularly liaise with senior leaders and cross-Group stakeholders to ensure alignment and buy-in for our IT simplification, modernisation and resilience programme.
* Define and effectively communicate a robust business case for the significant investment required to deliver our strategic ambitions.
* Provide thought leadership to drive contemporary, world-class technical delivery.
* Actively contribute to the broader engineering strategy and community across the Group.

Do you have what we need?

What we need to see from you:
* Demonstrable hands-on engineering experience
* Significant experience of Agile, DevOps, Cloud, modern tool chains and other contemporary software delivery practices
* Hunger for staying current in terms of external technology ecosystem and credibility as a thought-leader
* Excellent collaboration, communication and influencing skills
* Passion for continuous improvement
* Significant experience of managing complex IT risks in a highly-regulated, customer focussed business
* Deep understanding of technical architecture principles
* Ability to influence without authority; working with technical and cross-functional teams who do not report into this role to get things done
* Demonstrable skills as an effective leader; able to attract, retain and inspire a high-performing community of engineers and technology practitioners.
* Experience within a highly-regulated and / or financial services environment.

You'll enjoy an energising environment where you'll see our real passion for diversity and equal opportunity. We want to ensure our Engineering colleagues get genuine career opportunities as well as represent the communities we serve.

So what can we offer you in return? A package that includes:
* Performance related bonus
* A generous pension contribution
* Car/allowance
* 30 days holiday plus bank holidays
* Private Health cover
* A flexible benefit cash pot to craft around your lifestyle
* Share schemes including free shares
* Discounted products and discounted high street shopping

So if joining us at a critical and exciting time is of interest then we'd love to hear from you…

But more than that – we want to be a great place to work. We invest in our people, offering the best training and coaching, and by encouraging them to contribute to our leading corporate and social responsibility practices. We offer flexible working hours and days, under our Work Options scheme. This means that you can have a challenging and rewarding career, and still have an ideal work/life balance.

Flexible working is at the heart of our strategy. We’re re-imagining where, when, and how our people work, with new approaches designed to meet the ever-changing needs of customers and colleagues. These include increasing our use of remote-working tools and technology, as well as placing less reliance on a 9-to-5 mindset. For many of our office-based colleagues, we work in hybrid ways which involves spending at least two days per week or 40% of their time at one of our office sites.
