Are your great leadership skills making the right connection?

Join Royal Mail and play a key role in connecting millions of customers and communities.

We have an outstanding opportunity available as the Senior Operations Manager on night shift at Royal Mail’s second largest Mail Centre in the UK – Leeds.

Reporting to the Mail Centre Manager, you will lead performance across the shift, leading a management team of 9 and over 200 frontline employees, ensuring our plant runs smoothly overnight whilst driving our Safety, Customer, Financial and People measures. You will manage a budget of £14m, achieving efficiencies through specific and focussed activity – all while ensuring your team is working at its very best.

At Royal Mail, we thrive on continuous improvement – and that’s where you come in.

This is your opportunity to be at the very centre of our operation. To continue and improve on Yorkshire’s excellent reputation for processing and despatching letters and parcels to the 95,000 square kilometre area that covers the cities of Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, York and metropolitan towns of Huddersfield, Halifax and Harrogate.  In addition to this you will ensure our rural customers across areas of outstanding natural beauty - North York Moors National Park, Yorkshire Dales National Park, Nidderdale and the Pennines - receive the same great service, day in and day out.

Could you be a key part of Royal Mail’s unique 500 year history sorting mail to every household in North and West Yorkshire?

Leeds is now the 3rd largest city in the UK, with a thriving business sector, set to further expand in the near future with the national infrastructure improvements of the HS2 rail link and M1, M62 upgrades. All providing an excellent opportunity to be part of an expanding network set for future growth.

  • Ability to drive continuous improvement through collaborative engagement
  • Experience of managing complex budgets
  • Resource planning and management expertise
  • An engaging and influential communication style
  • Strong stakeholder and supplier management skills
  • Someone who remains resilient in high pressured environments
  • Experience of working with Unions is highly advantageous

Shift pattern is 10pm to 6am, Monday to Friday.
