About the role

Sense is looking for a Business Development Officer to join the Business Development Team. This is a full time, permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week at our Touchbase Pears location in Selly Oak, Birmingham.

The Business Development team manage and support growth and retention of business in line with our strategy.

You will play a large role in ensuring that existing business through externally contracted services is maintained and that existing contracts are monitored against specified outcomes and objectives and in ensuring we meet the needs and preferences of local people who are deafblind.

You will play a significant part in our tendering process, ensuring quality submissions and ongoing relationships with Commissioners, partners and stakeholders.

Ideally you will have a sound understanding of social care agendas and current practice governance and legislation.

About you 

As our ideal candidate, you will have experience in a similar role. We are looking for an individual who:

  • is conscientious, hard working and has the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • has excellent interpersonal skills and be able to engage a wide audience to build sustainable working relationships and achieve results.
  • has the ability to analyse data and make recommendations around improvements to services as well as identifying gaps and potential new business opportunities.
  • has persuasive writing skills and strong attention to detail
  • has a passion for social care and identification with our Sense values.

You will be able to work well both independently and as part of a team and be able to work to deadlines whilst maintaining a strong attention to detail. It'd be great if you had a commitment to working in the charity sector and developing an understanding of the health and social care sector and commissioning.  Ideally you will have experience of developing new and innovative services and have confidence in influencing at local and Commissioner level.
