The Role

Willmott Dixon is seeking a Sustainable Development Manager to join our award winning Re-Thinking team. The role is based at our Head Office in Letchworth and supports local offices across England and Wales which make up the Willmott Dixon Group.

This role is responsible for the company's sustainability performance reporting, improvement and verification, as well as leading on carbon emissions reduction, waste and the wider resource efficiency agenda.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading on sustainability performance reporting, improvement and verification
  • Leading on carbon emissions reduction and the wider resource efficiency agenda.
  • Assisting in the development of new strategy, policy and targets for the Willmott Dixon Group and its operating companies.
  • Supporting the business in the implementation and delivery of the Group Sustainability and Development strategy, its ambitions and targets.
  • Supporting sustainability input to business development & bids
  • Carrying out research and development, identifying opportunities, encouraging innovation and improvements in transferability to increase efficiency and work-winning.
  • Influencing and networking, speaking and profile raising.



Essential and Desirable Criteria

The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of issues surrounding energy and carbon including sustainability reporting frameworks such as the Carbon Trust Standard. They will also be familiar with policy and delivery of waste and resource management.

In addition they will be able to work on several projects concurrently at both a strategic legislative and policy level whilst being able to accurately analyse detailed numerical data using well developed Excel skills. They will be a self-starter able to demonstrate high levels of initiative, tenacity and self-motivation and be comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy. With experience of successfully embedding change in a large matrix-managed organisation they will also have excellent organisational, communication and written skills.

Essential criteria:

Minimum relevant level 4 qualification (HNC / NVQ4 etc).

Numerate with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Desirable criteria:

Degree in an environmental or related subject

Membership of relevant professional body

Valid driving licence

CSCS card
