Job Details

Work within Macquarie Principal Finance’s fast growing solar photovoltaic (“PV”) platform, bringing your commercial acumen and judgement to help evaluate and price potential investments in the renewable energy sector.

As an experienced Associate or Vice President, you will join our European solar PV team with responsibility for commercial assessment of projects and the opportunity to significantly contribute to the Principal Finance team’s investment decisions. You will see, and participate in, all aspects of the development process of solar PV from early stage assessment through to execution and credit commitment, requiring interaction and approval from senior staff.

Bringing high attention to detail, quantitative / modelling capability and fundamental company research, you will be required to prepare financial analyses to understand counterparty risk and implement appropriate risk premia in modelling project returns. You will work closely with both Macquarie Principal Finance’s existing technical and commercial outreach teams to help formulate initial proposals as well as execute agreed transactions.

As a highly motivated individual, you will enjoy working in a dynamic and fast-growing environment. Leveraging your experience within a prior advisory or corporate finance role, you will be curious to undertake the challenge of developing a new business and focusing on renewable energy assets. You will also bring an excellent academic background, with a minimum of a 2:1 degree in accounting, commerce or economics.

If you are ready for a challenge and the above resonates with your career goals, apply now.

In the last 12 months, Macquarie Principal Finance’s solar platform has committed to finance and construct >100MWp of solar PV assets on commercial property in the UK and Europe. Capitalising on the push by government and industry to pursue a carbon free footprint, through initiatives such as the RE100, Macquarie offers not only low-cost electricity but the associated ‘green’ credentials it brings customers with the generation of zero carbon electricity.  Importantly the business is not dependent on an energy subsidy scheme and Macquarie retains ownership of the assets. The long-term plan is to build a portfolio of solar assets across Europe and the team is working on further pipeline to develop another 300-500MWp.

Macquarie understands the importance of diversity and inclusion - our long history of success has come from being different. At Macquarie we value the innovation and creativity that diversity of thought brings. The one thing we all have in common is our focus on high performance. If you're capable, motivated and can deliver, we want you on our team.

Working at Macquarie

We believe in providing a positive environment for all our staff that is innovative and inspiring. For our female staff, Macquarie’s senior leaders are actively involved in increasing the representation of females in management positions.  In June 2014, we launched a mentoring programme for females, with the following two objectives:

  • Address female retention rates at Senior Manager level and improve our diverse pipeline of talent;
  • Engage female Senior Managers by providing tools and support around their personal development;

The programme pairs up Senior Managers with Directors, who meet on a monthly basis, and are supported by active group sessions (bi-monthly) with an external facilitator.

We select some of the brightest minds to help us in solving complex challenges for our clients.  We recognise that recruiting talent from varied backgrounds is essential to improving our understanding of the marketplace, and enhancing creativity and problem-solving capabilities in our businesses.

Because of this, our commitment to you is to create a diverse and inclusive workplace regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity or cultural background.

We make this commitment not only because it is the right thing to do but it opens up a world of opportunity, securing the future of our people, our success and our business
