This is a part time job share appointment consisting of 21 hours and 45 minutes per week, flexible in line with business needs, working on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, in line with a term time only schedule [available in the job information details]. The post holder will also work one Saturday per term from 1pm to 5pm. Time off in lieu is given in return for Saturday working.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Library team at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (Central), a specialist college for the performing arts and a federal college of the University of London, offering a wide range of courses at undergraduate and postgraduate degree level. In 2017, Central was awarded Gold Status in the Teaching Excellence Framework, and was the top drama conservatoire for world-leading research in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework.

The Library houses a specialist range of resources covering all aspects of Central’s disciplines at undergraduate and postgraduate taught and research programme levels. The successful applicant will help students and staff discover the information and resources they need for a range of teaching, practice and research assignments and projects. The role involves answering queries from and liaising with staff and students about the Library’s services, purchasing, managing and developing Library resources (including eResources), delivering information literacy as well as cataloguing and classifying.

Applicants will be a fully qualified librarian with substantial experience working as a qualified librarian in a subject specialist librarianship role in a user focused Higher Education library environment. While demonstrating strong customer care and IT skills, the successful applicant will be flexible and have the capacity, enthusiasm and ability to promote a positive attitude towards The Library Service across the School and externally.
