Chase and Holland are proud to be working with a college in the Rotherham area to recruit a part time Financial Controller for a maternity cover contract. This job offers the person selected the chance to play a key role for this £42million income College Group in achieving outstanding results for students through sound financial strategy and practice.

You will lead a team of circa 15 staff to ensure delivery of a full range of finance department activities from producing management reports for College Managers and Governors to the processing of relevant billing and payments. You will have experience of high-level financial planning/budgeting skills and the ability to deal with complex financial matters will be key. You will be familiar with current standards of best accounting practice and will ensure that the College meets all of these requirements.

You will build successful working relationships with College managers to ensure you understand their needs and use this knowledge to maintain and develop accounting and reporting systems that meet not just statutory requirements but also the needs of the College.

Main Duties

Line management of a relatively large team including direct line management of the Finance Manager and management accounts team;
Monthly forecasting in conjunction with the management accounts team;
Regular cash flow forecasting to ensure sufficient funds are available throughout the year;
Production of the annual budget and three-year plan in accordance with timetables;
Production of the annual consolidated financial statements in conjunction with the Finance Manager and management accountants, including audit liaison;
Overall responsibility for monthly management accounts, dealing with technically complex accounting aspects;
Ensure the College meets all statutory reporting duties with the assistance of the Finance Manager.

Role Objectives

To be a technically strong point of influence to the team developing skills to achieve high level outcomes and performance;
To ensure that all deadlines are met with a high-quality output;
To develop key management reports.

Challenges

You will be able to adapt to a frequently changing external environment, particularly funding for students and amend forecasts in a way that minimises the impact on students;
You will be involved in ad hoc projects as required in conjunction with the Director of Finance;
Planning and prioritising of your day to day workload whilst remaining flexible to external requests will be key in achieving the duties and objectives of the role.

The hours for this position are 22.5 hours per week. Pro rata salary for this position is £30,405. Holidays are 25 days per annum plus bank holidays.
