£19,875 per annum for 36 hours per week based at Woking Magistrates Court (Coroner's Offices), Woking, Surrey, GU22 7YL.

We have 4 posts available that are offered as 6 month secondment / fixed term contract opportunities.

We are looking for 4 temporary Coroners Support Officers to help in the effective delivery of operations within our busy Coroners service. You will report into the Coroner Service Office Manager, and will be responsible for supporting with investigations into sudden deaths that are referred to the Coroner. You will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders including, coroner’s officers, Police, other professionals involved in investigations, and bereaved families, therefore you will put your high level communication skills to full use. You will also require the ability to gather information and present your findings for the purpose of investigations in a well-reasoned way, taking into account all of the evidence available to you. 

You will sometimes be operating in very difficult and challenging circumstances therefore you will apply a sensitive and discreet approach to your work. You will be highly organised and methodical in the approach to your work, maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail in all that you do.  Your work may include any of the following duties on a day to day basis:

* Make arrangements for inquests (including summoning a jury)

* Preparing documentation for the Coroner

* Submitting documentation to the local registrar

* Entering and updating records onto IT systems

You will be a pro- active team player who is able to work collaboratively and using your own initiative to achieve common team goals and service aims. 

To be shortlisted to interview for this position your CV will clearly evidence:

* Your excellent customer service skills

* Experience and ability to work with a wide range of people (internal and external).

* Your experience of using a variety of IT systems and software

*Your well-reasoned investigation skills

*Attention to detail and accuracy in your work

Knowledge and experience of registration or coronial processes would be advantageous.
