James is an extremely bright, funny and lively 8 year old boy. He loves Minecraft, lego, board games, seeing in friends and has a keen interest in the world around him and has a broad imagination. James has been diagnosed with Dyslexia and as a result he has low self-esteem. He also has some sensory integration difficulties which can means he can struggle with emotional regulation – at times he can be very excitable, have a short fuse and can be a little impulsive.

This role will involve supporting James in his before and after school routines as well as some meal preparation and light household duties. The first few weeks will be crucial in allowing you to build trust, set boundaries, establish authority and routine. A key part of this role is having the ability to spot triggers, diffuse situations and quickly move onto more positive and fun interactions. James thrives on positive reinforcement so this is really important. You will motivate and encourage James during homework tasks and assess when he needs some time out.

This job will suit someone who is proactive and has an interest in child psychology. You should be emotionally resilient and not take things too personally. James has a fantastic character and for the majority of the time is lots of fun to be around, so someone upbeat and energetic would work well. Mum would like someone can be a real advocate for her son.

This is a wonderful opportunity to help drive James’ development forward whilst having a very open relationship with mum who is keen to share idea and strategies.
