The Office for Students (OfS) is the new independent regulator for higher education in England. We were created in 2018 to ensure that all students, whatever their background, have a fulfilling experience of higher education that enriches their lives and careers.

We see diversity as key. Having a breadth of cultures and heritages in our business brings about an inspiring and inclusive environment - so we warmly welcome talent from all backgrounds. We`re also very proud to be a Disability Confident employer, meaning we`ll provide a fully accessible recruitment process for qualifying disabled applicants.

With the world becoming ever more technology driven we`re making sure we keep ahead of the curve. Information Technology is fundamental to the OfS in being able to carry out our role as a regulator effectively. We have just made a major investment in new cloud based technology that underlines this commitment. Our IT team is at the forefront of tech development - remaining fresh and contemporary to ensure we embrace the direction of our industry. Our commitment and enthusiasm for moving forward with our tech means that opportunity for our people to succeed is truly great, with a wonderful work-life balance and vibrant office atmosphere to top it all off.

We`re happy to receive applications for full time, part-time, job share or secondment opportunities.

The role of the `IT Cloud Technology Engineer` is to lead or undertake IT infrastructure projects. Key responsibilities include: ensuring hybrid cloud and on-premise services are integrated, delivered and operated as required and playing an active role in the handover of operational support to the Operations Team.
If you have experience as in predominantly Microsoft cloud technology specialist, are logical and technically adept and a passion about technology but able to position this appropriately in the context of business strategy and requirements, we`d be keen to meet you.

Our IT department is dynamic. It`s fast-paced, busy and consistently challenging. It`s a friendly and supportive place to gain great experience quickly and personally develop in a customer-focused space - we are not simply just a support team, we are a key partner in the organisation. So, if you`re looking for an exciting role in an exciting, friendly place, then feel free to apply and tell us just why we should work together.

As well as an exciting opportunity to be part of something new, we provide our staff with a comprehensive staff development programme, 25 days` annual leave, and the opportunity to join a valuable salary based Civil Service pension scheme.

In some specific roles the OfS operates a system of dual or triple pay banding. This enables appointment of candidates to the appropriate pay band depending on their skills and experience, as demonstrated and assessed through the selection process. Successful candidates are then supported to develop the required skills and progress through these pay bands, subject to performance. See the job description, after clicking 'Apply', for more details.

This role is assigned to pay bands 8/9 ie dual banded:

The full bands are:

  • Pay band 8 - £36,012 to £37,812
  • Pay band 9 - £46,682 to £49,017
