An opportunity has arisen for a Support Worker, to provide support to adults with learning disabilities in small supported living services in Pickering. The role is very person centred and the focus as a Support Worker is to ensure that the service users lead as rewarding a life as possible. The organisation are a charity and support adults with learning disabilities to be as independent as possible, encouraging active participation in various social activities.
This is a fantastic opportunity, for a Support Worker, who is a caring individual, and passionate about providing an excellent level of care to individuals, to support this service user to develop confidence and independence. The service user takes part in a wide range of activities, including social, sport and leisure, and this service welcomes a support worker who is passionate about supporting service users in attending activities and events.
This registered charity has an excellent reputation for providing person centred care to adults with learning disabilities and in providing full training and ongoing support for Support Workers to progress.
The upper salary highlighted includes sleep over shifts and is full time pro rata.
The client can also offer part time hours.
Support Worker Role :
Provide support to vulnerable adults with learning disabilities
Provide support with personal care and everyday tasks such as preparing and eating meals, attending appointments, budgeting, shopping.
Support the service user to a Day Service, college and various social activities.
To ensure person centred care is provided, care plans are followed and updated and CQC standards are met.
Encouraging individuals to partake in social and community events, sport such as swimming, bowling, hobbies, day trips, short holidays, support in going to the cinema, theatre, meals in restaurants, pubs and social evenings.
Administering medication
Personal care and manual handling.
Skills / Qualifications :
Ideally have NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care
Excellent communication skills - ability to communicate with residents, team members and other professionals such as social workers
