The Programme Officer role for Futures has two key purposes; first to ensure the final 6 months of the Futures programme is delivered to a high quality and our KPIs are met, and secondly to wind down the programme and ensure we leave behind a lasting legacy after 11 years of delivering the programme. 

Purpose of the team:

The Programme Development function leads on the development of all Teach First programmes. This includes researching, building and implementing new programmes, ensuring the continuous improvement of existing programmes and training delivery colleagues to ensure the maximum impact on recipients and schools.  

Within this department sits the Futures Programme; a programme for sixth form students from under-represented groups at university, who have the academic potential but lack the confidence, knowledge or support to get into and stay at university.

Purpose of the role:

The Programme Officer role for Futures has two key purposes; first to ensure the final 6 months of the Futures programme is delivered to a high quality and our KPIs are met, and secondly to wind down the programme and ensure we leave behind a lasting legacy after 11 years of delivering the programme.

At this level you will:

1. Impact: Oversee the 800 active pupils we have on the programme and their mentors, including their final graduation event, and be a key point of contact for approximately 15 aligned organisations we are working with to share our insight and lessons learnt

2. Communication: Be the main point of contact for Futures across the organisation. Manage relationships with pupils, mentors and aligned organisations

3. Innovation: Identify opportunities to enhance our legacy work and share insight across the organisation

4. Knowledge: Have good programme management and relationship management knowledge and insight

Your responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing Futures in its final year of delivery – this includes chairing our monthly working group meetings, monitoring progress against targets, mitigating against risk and being a key contact person for Futures in the organisation

• Operationalising the Futures legacy project plan, which includes signposting schools to other suitable alternatives, resources sharing, sharing our lessons learnt as bitesize sector papers and working on the integration of Futures content into other Teach First programmes

• Ensuring the Futures programme is effectively wound down, including deletion of records – in accordance with GDPR regulations

• Supporting our Events Team to deliver the final Futures graduation and celebration event, specifically leading on content design, stakeholder engagement, attendance targets and communications support

Project Management:

  •  Leads in implementing and overseeing project plans that have implications across departments or the organisation

Communicates clearly and confidently with others to engage and influence; promotes dialogue and ensures timely and appropriate messages, building confidence and trust in others

Relationship Management:

Manages and develops external stakeholder relationships and partnerships to produce favourable outcomes for Teach First

Desirable skills and experience:

Knowing the Market:

Remains informed about market activities and potential changes relevant to programme development. May have experience in the Higher Education Access space

Programme/Event Design

Has led on the design of event content, particularly engaging events for young people
