Medical Secretary

We are currently recruiting for a Medical Secretary on behalf of our client who is based in Derby area. As a Medical Secretary you will need to provide general secretarial support to the doctors and health professionals involving word-processing and audio typing skills with general clerical work.

Details of Accounts Administrator

  • Pay rate: £8.42
  • Start Date: Immediate
  • Working Hours: Part time
  • Mon - Fri: 15 hours + holiday/sick cover
  • Location: Derby
  • Duration: Temp to ongoing

Role of Medical Secretary

  • To provide an efficient audio, copy typing and word processing service for GPs and health professionals as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, minutes, memorandums, etc. in an accurate and quality manner.
  • To provide ad hoc administrative support to all the practice team as required to maintain an adequate and continuous service for patients and doctors.
  • To be responsible for implementing the practice's digital dictation system and the E-Referral system to ensure the efficient and accurate processing of referrals.
  • Retrieval of information as required from both computer and manual systems.
  • To establish and maintain filing and administrative systems so that written or computer information is easily accessible and secure.
  • To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries.
  • To maintain the computer clinic system in an accurate and secure manner.
  • To provide cover for members of the secretarial team during periods of sickness and annual leave.
  • The ability to prioritise workload and deal with patients in an empathetic manner at all times

A a Medical Secretary you'll need:

  • general administration experience
  • customer service skills
  • proficient IT skills in Microsoft packages and ability to work with bespoke software packages
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to organise own time, workload, resources and multi task
  • communicate effectively with other team members, patients and carers
  • recognise people's needs for alternative methods of communication and respond accordingly
