Role Overview

An opportunity exists for an experienced Principal Commercial Manager to support our Waste Collection and Treatment project, on the Isle of Wight. At the heart of our Waste Treatment division is the desire to increase recycling and to divert waste from landfill; which is precisely the focal point of our Isle of Wight project. As well as collecting and processing the island's waste, our new facility hosts an Education Centre providing schools, community groups and local residents with the opportunity to come along and become involved with the process. We also commercial waste services and transfer services for local organisations residents and businesses.

As Principal Commercial Manager you will be heavily involved in overseeing a multitude of post contract aspects of our waste treatment facility. Producing client data including KPI and commodities income reports you will liaise with the Isle of Wight Council to implement best commercial practice, maximising value and minimising risks and costs. As part of the senior team you will also be involved with providing information to the wider Waste Treatment business at Amey.



What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have a Commercial degree or equivalent, or a MRICS qualification. You should have previous experience in managing post contract commercial functions, ideally within the Environmental Services or Energy sectors. Possessing a Strong commercial acumen combined with a detailed understanding of the standard form of contracts typically used by the division. Previous experience of working collaboratively with local authorities would also be beneficial, as will experience of delivering successful commercial solutions on support services contracts valued up to £40m p.a. Excellent Health and Safety awareness and commitment to Amey's Zero Code. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products, especially Excel and Word.

As a Principal Commercial Manager, you will be required to develop the commercial function and capability of the project, you should therefore have relevant management experience and team building skills to support this.
