Finance and Operations Assistant
Part-time – 3 days a week
£25,000 - £28,000 Full time equivalent

A rewarding opportunity to work for a not-for-profit organisation that provides support for individuals leaving the armed forces. They deliver assistance to those that need and their families through a range of different means and grants.
THE ROLE:
Assist the Finance and Operations Manager with all internal financial processes in respect of both the grant making and organisational operations
- Recording, classifying, analysing, and reporting all financial transactions
- Administer grant payment claims, invoices and expenses in the accounting system
- Support the payment process to ensure accounts and grants are paid on time
- Prepare financial reports for the trustees and work with external accountants as required for annual audit
- Maintain a full and accurate audit trail by filing and referencing documents
- Administer the Trust’s systems for managing electronic and physical files
- Preparing and presenting basic financial and written reports to colleagues and seniors
- Manage the day to day smooth running of the office and external contractor relationships
- Support the team and the trustees including organising meetings and events, diaries, preparing papers and minuting
- Provide administrative support for office-wide projects as required
THE PERSON:
- Proven office-based financial admin experience
- Experience in financial recording and reporting, bookkeeping and reconciliations
- Numerate and able to interpret and use financial information
- Strong command of Microsoft Office packages and Xero (desirable)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent general IT skills including MS Office and databases
- Ability to multitask and to remain calm under pressure
- Ability to deal with sensitive and/or confidential information
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with minimal direction and work well in a team
- Financial/bookkeeping training and qualifications would be advantageous
- Able to maintain confidentiality and deal with sensitive information
