Atlantic Resource is working closely with a number of care homes based in and around South and West Wales. Currently, we are looking to recruit a Senior Residential Support Worker to join their team. As a Senior Support Worker whom is specialising in the care of children and young people, you will greatly contribute to all aspects of the physical and emotional care of them, and you will make a big impact in improving lives: both the children and their families.
What will a Senior Residential Support Worker do?
Your daily tasks will include, but will not be limited to:
* Taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of the unit in the absence of the Manager
* Providing expertise in working with children at the home
* Establishing relationships with young people and their families
* Assisting in the assessment of the individual’s needs and circumstances
* Planning and co-ordinating of specific projects
* Undertaking any other duties appropriate to the post when needed
To be successful as a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will need to have:
* At least one years’ experience of working with young adults in a residential childcare setting
* QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or NVQ Level III (Children and Young People) or equivalent is essential
* Experience of contribution to the development of specific programmes for young people to meet their needs
* Experience of protecting children from abuse and evaluating of the risk of abuse
* Knowledge of legislation, policy and practice in relation to working with children
* Knowledge of rights and responsibilities of individuals
* Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
As a Senior Residential Support Worker, it is also important to:
* Demonstrate a commitment to the development of residential care for children
* Be able to work well under stress and the ability to remain patient in challenging situations
* Be flexible with shift patterns
* Have good communication skills and a positive outlook
* Have the ability empathy to all the children and young people staying at the home
What we can offer?
* A basic salary start with £18,500 pa
* Additional paid overtime available
* 28 days holiday (increasing up to 34 days)
* Full time position- working around 171 h per month
