Our position

We currently have both a London based team, and a remote team which includes several part time, home-based workers that have been recruited through the working mums network. Some have been with us since 2010 and enjoyed progression into new positions. There is an opportunity for a new part time remote administrator. The role would be ideal for someone who is either returning to the working environment following a career break or looking to change to a role offering flexibility.

For the right person we will offer an hourly rate of £8.50 per hour and working conditions with an element of flexibility which would suit a mother or father to a young child.

RecWorks is a unique IT recruitment agency. Typically the tech recruitment industry has a very bad reputation. This is true around the world but especially so in London. RecWorks are one of the few companies that have built up a strong reputation in the market and you can see some comments on this post to show how we are perceived in the industry: http://thayerprime.wordpress.com/2012/11/22/who-are-the-best-technology-recruitment-agents-in-london/

The truth is that we are more than just a recruitment agency. At RecWorks our aim is to fix the technical recruitment industry using the power of community. We are focused around recruitment and social networks. We want to prove that recruiters can go beyond just placing people and become a power of good in the industry.

We discovered that many of the best software developers in London typically spend their spare time trying to improve their talent, by attending events, working on online projects and engaging with the community, so we decided to change our business model and approach things differently to typical tech recruiters. Whilst we still generate 100% of our revenue from recruitment, we now spend 50% of our time on community-focused work. Hence we do good things in the industry around building communities, organising events and running mentoring initiatives. We then spend time networking, building long-term, trusted relationships and proactively seeking referrals and recommendations. It is a win-win in that we help plug the gaps in the tech industry, are approached by many of the best developers in London before anyone else and develop connections with many of the top employers.

As an example of our work, we founded the London Java Community in 2007 and have since invested vast amounts of time and money growing it up to one of the largest and most active Java User Groups in the world. It is now growing by over 100 Java developers each month. Every month we organise 3-4 events on the latest technologies, to attract the best developers and then get to know as many of the attendees afterwards as we can. We are also involved in other initiatives such as our Meet a Mentor community, and a campaign connecting open source projects with potential new developers.

RecWorkers

The people employed by RecWorks, are special. We only employ friendly, dedicated and hardworking people, who are committed to the community-focused ideals of the company. RecWorkers are ambitious and deliver results, but they are not arrogant sales people, driven by the desire to earn as much as possible. We care about doing the best job we can for our client companies, for developers looking for work and for the communities we work with.

The job

RecWorks has a growing list of clients who are actively recruiting software engineers, and so our team is growing too. We are looking for someone to provide support to our remote and office teams, including assisting with recruitment and community administration.

Requirements for the job:

To have excellent written communication skills including touch typing skills (or extremely fast typing skills) – the role may suit someone with a background as a secretary/personal assistant or someone with a lot of administrative experience

To be extremely quick when going through administration, you will often have a lot of small jobs to complete each day so must be able to multi-task and get through a variety of jobs with speed and accuracy

To be self motivated - you will need to be happy working independently, 90% of the role will be working by yourself going through emails and associated administration

Have what it takes to be a RecWorker
