Job Title: Children and Young People (CYP) Emotional Wellbeing Awareness Trainer and Workshop Facilitator
Salary Grade: £21,500 per annum pro rata 
Responsible to: Children and Young People (CYP) Emotional Wellbeing Awareness Coordinator
No. of Hours: Part-time 18.75 hours per week
Contract: Fixed term until end of March 2020 with the possibility for extension
Main Base: Countywide Role (main negotiable)

Building on the success of the Spot the Signs Children and Young People (CYP) mental health promotion campaign, the service is expanding its training and workshop provision.

The aims of the Spot the Signs project are:

  • To link in with existing mental health provision for young people and their families.
  • To provide training to professionals working with children and young people on wellbeing, mental health and spotting the signs of suicide risk.
  • Promote support for children and young people and how to access this.
  • Develop and promote self-help strategies and support for parents so that they feel more confident in supporting their child with their mental health and wellbeing.

The focus of this role is the delivery and development of existing wellbeing, mental health and suicide prevention training packages to Hertfordshire’s CYP workforce and facilitating mental health workshops aimed at children and young people, and parents/carers.

Duties will include:

  • Delivery of existing wellbeing, mental health and suicide prevention training packages to Hertfordshire’s CYP workforce, and working with colleagues to develop further training offers where appropriate.
  • Delivering existing workshop packages such as ‘Just Talk’ to children and young people and parents/carers expanding the range of workshops we deliver directly to young people and parents/carers, aimed at improving their mental wellbeing, challenging stigma and promoting peer support networks.
  • To use a range and variety of teaching methods to ensure the teaching and learning within training matches both the learning objectives, and the needs of the individual delegates where possible.
  • Manage the learning environment,
  • To support the participation of volunteers, including people with lived experience of mental health issues, in our training programmes and workshops where required.
  • To support with monitoring and evaluating training and to provide feedback to the organisation,
  • Signposting to how and where appropriate information and specialist support can be accessed.
  • To work collaboratively with delivery partners on the above training such as Public Health and CAMHS.
