Care Support Worker  Every day, 12 children and young people in the UK hear the shocking news they have cancer. CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families, offering them care and support every step of the way. You can be a part of helping them live their life to the full.  Position: Care Support Worker  Location: Manchester - Royal Manchester Children's Hospital  Job type: Part Time, 12 Month Contract  Hours: 23.5 hours per week  Salary: £19,954 pro-rata  Closing Date: 14 April 2019  Interview Date: 30 April 2019  About the role:  This is an exciting opportunity to join our established Social Care Team providing services and support to children and teenagers with cancer. The team at RMCH is made up of a Senior Practitioner and Paediatric Social Workers, however you will also link with the team based at The Christie, which consists of a Team Manager and Young Peoples' Social Workers.  You will be expected to maintain a high standard of administration, but also to help Social Workers to provide day to day support for service users and to plan and organise events and activities. You will have some contact with children, young people and families, completing registrations and grant applications, providing information and assistance with accessing appropriate services. You will help us to maintain our CARE database and contribute to collecting and presenting data for reports and evaluations.  About you:  We are looking for an experienced person who has the confidence to meet with children and families when they may be experiencing great distress, but who is also highly organised and efficient. You will need to have a good standard of literacy and numeracy, have experience of an administrative role and experience of working with children and families.  It is desirable that you have some experience of working in a similar setting and that you have an understanding of the impact of cancer or serious illness.  All applicants should have excellent interpersonal skills.  This post will require a Criminal Records check.  CLIC Sargent is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.
