St Albans is a unique English Cathedral City with a colourful history which can be seen in the Roman remains and variety of beautiful architecture, heritage sites and conservation areas. Set within green belt, off the M25, A1M and M1, the District includes a cathedral, historic city centre and charming villages. Our refurbished offices are in the city centre near to the station (London St Pancras 20 minutes), shops and restaurants. In short, it is a great place to live and work.

In this wide ranging post, you will be responsible for the strategic management and delivery of a Regulatory Service on behalf of the council. You will develop and lead on the implementation of regulatory strategy, ensuring effective delivery of the business plans to meet performance targets, whilst maintaining responsibility for the management of all of the staff within the environment and regulatory section.

You will ensure that the Council’s statutory responsibilities for all environmental and regulatory activities and contract management functions, are discharged in accordance with our policies and best practice. As our expert on Environment and Regulatory Services matters, you will also provide high level professional advice to the leadership team as required.

You will be educated to degree or equivalent level in Environmental Health, and have a proven track record of effectively managing a multi-disciplinary team. You will also have demonstrable
