Service Co-ordinator (Part Time, Contract)
Manchester, Greater Manchester
£8.37 per hour
Royal Voluntary Service is an innovative charity that focuses on inspiring people to give the gift of voluntary service to support the NHS and older people at home and in the community. We are now looking for a Service Co-ordinator to join us for a contract lasting until the 31st March 2021 on a part time basis working 21 hours per week over three days.
If you’ve got an understanding of the need to support the NHS around discharge of patients, and the role the third sector can play along with experience of working with volunteers, this is your chance to be involved in an exciting new volunteer delivered service which will make a huge difference.
You’ll discover that Royal Voluntary Service makes a difference every day and supports those who need us the most. Utilising the generous gift of time that our volunteers donate, we strive to improve the lives of older people and particularly those in hospital or just returning home.
As a Service Co-ordinator, you will have responsibility for co-ordinating the ‘Supporting Your Recovery’ service in Manchester Royal Infirmary which supports patients both on the ward to improve their experience in hospital and as they recover at home and in the community, preventing re-admission.
The service helps people on wards with nutrition, hydration and both cognitive and physical exercises to support a successful discharge and a home from hospital service which, in turn, supports engagement with patients’ communities and activities of interest.
The overall aim of the service is to reduce recovery times and readmissions. Volunteers who deliver the service will also seek to impact upon feelings of loneliness and isolation that may be felt after prolonged stays in hospital.
Reporting to the Service Manager, you will:
- Ensure volunteer activities are effectively co-ordinated on a day-to-day basis
- Support the recruitment and training of volunteers
- Help to grow and service and increase uptake
- Ensure all data is recorded in line with organisational standards
Interested? To be considered, you will need some knowledge and understanding of the NHS, Commissioning groups and local authority Commissioning including Health and Social Care bodies.
Self-motivated and resourceful, as the Service Co-ordinator, you’ll have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A great eye for detail, a positive attitude and superb time-management abilities are also key.
GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at grade A*-C would be advantageous, as would proficiency in standard IT systems.
This is a part time role, working 21 hours per week over three days for a contract lasting until the 31st March 2021.
The closing date for applications is the 1st May 2019 with interviews scheduled for the 7th and 8th of May 2019 in Manchester.
