Accountancy Assistant - Maternity Cover Location: Birkenhead Salary: £24,090.00 Hours: 37 Hrs per week A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a temporary accountancy assistant to join our busy finance team to cover a period of maternity leave. This role is a temporary full-time basis working 37 hours per week, based in our modern head office in Birkenhead, Wirral. The office is easily accessible from most transport links with just a short walk from Hamilton Square train station and local bus routes. Free parking is provided to staff either on site or nearby. The post would be for a period of approximately 16 months. Responsibilities of the Accountancy Assistant: * The role of the temporary accountancy assistant reports directly to the assistant financial accountant. * You will need to support the provision of quality financial management and accountancy service carrying out accounting and budgetary control procedures in order that budgets, final accounts and the financial management requirements are provided in accordance with statutory requirements. * You will need to show experience of working within a busy financial environment and be experienced in utilising computerised financial systems with an in-depth experience and knowledge of spreadsheets particularly Excel including formulas, pivot tables and lookups. * You will need to be someone with a positive and enthusiastic personality with a strong focus on customer service, attention to detail and positively contribute to the role and team you work in. The ability to plan, organise and prioritise work is essential and to be able to work with colleagues of all levels, both internal and external. Good verbal and written communication skills are a must and ideally you will be fully proficient in all Microsoft Office packages. Requirements of the Accountancy Assistant: * Preferably AAT qualified or extensive demonstrable on the job experience in a similar role * Able to communicate effectively with other managers and staff across the company. * Ability to present financial information clearly and in a non-technical way. * Able to accept accountability and show initiative to meet team and departmental targets. * Good problem-solving skills, with the tenacity to see things through and tactfulness to carry others along. * Demonstration of an analytical approach to problem solving * Able to prioritise balancing competing demands and keeping others informed whilst ensuring key targets and commitments are met. * Excellent verbal, written and IT skills with the ability to analyse and communicate financial information to non-financial people. * Knowledge and understanding of relevant accounting standards and management reporting e.g. Housing SORP, GAAP, Charity and Company legislation * Committed to a performance management culture * A positive can-do attitude with a flexible approach to tasks and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. * Experience of working within a financial environment. * Experience of utilising computerised financial systems. * In depth experience and knowledge of spreadsheets particularly Excel including formulas, pivot tables and lookups.
