Member Advisor (AdviceLine) (x3) Based in NEU AdviceLine (Doncaster)   Permanent, full and part-time   Commencing salary £34,017 + £1,005 luncheon allowance per annum (pro-rata for part-time) The National Education Union is a force for change in the world of education, bringing together more than 450,000 teachers, lecturers, support staff and leaders working in maintained and independent schools and colleges across the UK.   Combining the expertise and experience of both the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL) and the National Union of Teachers (NUT), the National Education Union is the largest education union in Europe and the fourth largest union in the Trades union congress (TUC). We are an effective and powerful voice – championing everyone who works in education.   As a Member Advisor, you will be responsible for advising NEU members on a wide range of employment concerns arising from their role in education. In doing so, you will work as part of a close-knit team and cover a range of employment-related matters including workload, capability, pay and redundancy.   You will be highly motivated and able to make clear, informed and effective decisions. You will have a sound understanding of employment concerns and the role of trade unions in addressing them. Additionally, you will demonstrate strong IT literacy skills, good oral and written communication skills and an excellent telephone manner. A supportive team worker, you will be able to function comfortably during periods of increased pressure. Working hours in the AdviceLine are 35 hours per week (full-time), and follow a shift pattern between the hours of 9.00 to 19.00.   We offer good conditions including a commencing salary of £34,017 plus £1,005 lunch allowance pa, 33 days annual leave plus 4 days paid additional holiday entitlement as the NEU office closure days at Christmas and a final salary pension scheme.   Prospective applicants need to be aware that – following shortlisting – successful applicants will be first invited to an Assessment Centre to be held on Tuesday 14 May 2019, and those successful at the Assessment will be invited to final interviews on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 May 2019.   Completed application forms must be submitted by mid-day Thursday 3 May 2019.   THE UNION IS FUNDAMENTALLY COMMITTED TO EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES IN ITS POLICIES AND PRACTICE TSL2
