Fixed Term contract until December 2020

Part Time (18.5 hours per week)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Criminal Justice services team at HMP Highdown and across the local community.

As a homelessness charity and housing association our clients are at the heart of what we do. We provide a bed and support to more than 2,700 people a night who are either homeless or at risk, and work to end homelessness and rebuild lives.

St Mungo’s Criminal Justice services, has been providing dedicated services to ex -offenders in custody and the community, since 1998. We are now looking for a Specialist Housing Advisor to join the team in Sutton, providing housing support to clients at HMP Highdown and in the community. 

About the Role

As a Specialist Housing Advisor you will provide housing, benefit and debt advice to support clients in preventing homelessness upon their release from prison. Working in the community, you will also provide vital support to help clients to access appropriate accommodation, who will be homeless upon their release. In this role, you will also work closely with partner agencies including prisons and Local Authorities, to ensure suitable support plans can be put in place. 

This role will suit those with some experience of working with ex-offenders, people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless; as well as an understanding of the difficulties people may experience in accessing services. If you have good communication skills, are able to work with others whilst managing your own time and have the ability to empower individuals to make positive changes we want to hear from you. 

Above all we are looking for inspirational, committed individuals who have a genuine desire to support people to rebuild their lives, and you will receive training and support so that you can deliver high quality services, while developing your skills and gaining on going knowledge of the criminal justice system.
