We’re now looking for a part time SEND Information Advice and Support Caseworker to join us on a 12 month fixed-term contract and support the delivery of our SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) services.

The Role

As a SEND Information Advice and Support Caseworker, you’ll support the delivery of our SENDIAS (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information and Advice Support service) offering.

SENDIAS aims to empower parents/carers and young people with special educational needs and disabilities by providing free impartial information and advice relating to education, health and social care.

Taking ownership of your own caseload, you will:

- Provide advice via telephone, email and face-to-face

- Inform children, young people and their parents/carers of their rights regarding the SEND process

- Support users to express their views in meetings with local authorities, schools and other professions

- Help to recruit and train volunteers to support the service

About You

To join us as a SEND Information Advice and Support Caseworker, you’ll need:

- Experience of working with children, young people and their families with additional needs

- Proven experience of delivering impartial advice and support to families where children and young people have special educational needs and disabilities

- Previous experience of supervising and managing volunteers

- Excellent knowledge of current special educational needs procedures and SEND reforms

- The ability to promote positive outcomes for children and actively empower families to represent themselves

- A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, such as education, health, social care or similar
