Academics are an established education agency who is recruiting an experienced School Science Technician to work within a Secondary School in Birmingham. The position is full time and will commence in May 2019. Due to the school being unsuccessful in sourcing somebody through their own advertising, they have decided to go through an agency on a long term temporary basis but their may be a permanent opportunity for the right candidate. This is a great opportunity for an experienced School Science Technician to share their knowledge and expertise in order to help drive the science department forward. To apply, you must be available immediately due to the urgency of the position.

Applicants must have a Child’s workforce DBS issued within the last 6 months, have a DBS on the update service or be willing to pay £50 for a new DBS check that you can take to any education environment. It is essential that you have relevant science technician experience and can carry out some of the following duties:

-Supporting both candidates and science teachers throughout the day

-Setting up and using the equipment accurately and safely

-Take a proactive approach to work -Organised and knowledge of the relevant health and safety regulations

-Able to manage the stock control of chemicals and equipment

-Ensure that equipment is properly cleaned and that chemicals and other materials are appropriately stored.
