Contract Type: Temp / Part time (25 hrs per week).

A fantastic opportunity within Harrow Council for a formal Arabic speaker has arisen to join
our Resources & Commercial Directorate.
The appointed candidate will be supporting newly arrived refugees households within the borough.
Assisting them to become settled into their new home and help them to build a resilience and engage with local services so that they become integrated within Harrow communities.

In return we pay a competitive rate of £17.91 per hour, other benefits include excellent training and support for career development and 20 days holiday (excluding Bank Holidays).
Must be able to work any 5 days out of 7 including weekend and must also be able to work flexibly and be an excellent team player.

To be successful in this role you would need to have the below skills & experience:

"Working knowledge of Formal Arabic language and a good understanding of English
"Experience of providing support to vulnerable individuals and households
"Up to date knowledge of housing, immigration, housing benefit and welfare legislation and guidance on key aspect of settling in the UK
"Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with a diverse range of audiences including managers, landlords, solicitors and vulnerable customers
"Ability to advocate on behalf of, and gain access to internal and external resources as necessary
"Experience of managing conflict and problem solving
"Able to participate in a rota providing 24 hour service cover
"Able to work Week-ends and Bank Holidays as required

Duties will include:
"Make a positive contribution to the delivery of the service, this will include working flexibly and positively to achieve the objectives of the council.
"upport effective working relationships and act as an ambassador and advocate with external organisations.
"To develop and maintain an accurate database of support plans and case notes, in line with the council's GDPR policy. To provide periodic performance reports as requested and responding to Freedom of Information Requests (FoIs) as required.
"To assist households with day-to-day translations, negotiate formal application processes including welfare and benefit claims and setting up of a bank account and other formal processes.
